SKIPS Connect Programmes for Corporate Sponsors

SKIPS Connect is an effective outreach campaign that builds meaningful relationships between the Corporate Sponsor and its community environment while creating tangible operational and corporate benefits for the Sponsor. It offers a unique way to provide and demonstrate “social value” and a distinct opportunity to improve the community and business environment.

SKIPS CONNECT creates an effective cooperation between private enterprises and public institutions and establishes a powerful pathway to sustainable, modern cities of the future in which citizens and the Sponsor’s business will be able to thrive. In this regard, SKIPS is an agent for behavioural change in families and communities.

Due to its expertise, SKIPS can act as an efficient conduit between public and private sector institutions, combining their operations and efforts, and Sponsors are empowered to provide social value and community engagement with a clear link to their core operations. The effective education at community level changes enhances the social and business environment for citizens, local authorities and the Sponsor alike.

We will design the campaign in line with existing marketing and/or CSR policies, but can also design and create a new operational policy for the Sponsor relating to best practice community engagement. We will identify clear operational targets and design the campaign in line with the theory of change.

SKIPS Connect Parameters

The SKIPS Connect Programme will be tailored to the Sponsor’s mission and business requirements and can involve English, Maths and/or Life Skills work books. We can also develop a bespoke Life Skills Book for a series of regional campaigns.

Our Life Skills Books are paired with a lesson plan approved by the appropriate public authority. The lesson plan will fit into the national curriculum with respect to Numeracy, Literacy, Citizenship, Science, Geography, Art, PHSE and other relevant subjects.

The SKIPS Life Skills Books offer a unique opportunity to introduce the Sponsor into the family household and to create high level of Sponsor brand recognition and brand values. To give a powerful example, a child reader of the SKIPS Dennis to the Rescue Recycling book mistook a fire engine on the street for a “Dennis” (recycling) truck that had turned into a fire engine for the day.

Our English and Math books will be integrated into the homework schedule and embedded into the school and family life via our SKIPS Educational Programme guidelines.

SKIPS will also engage with the local council on behalf of the Sponsor and deliver the Connect Programme with Sponsor branding with an opportunity to communicate brand values.

We will provide all data on the school communities you wish to reach, including demographic analysis. The scope of the Connect programme at each school will also be designed with you; we usually suggest engaging with at least two year groups as this creates a more meaningful engagement with the community.

Our Connect programme already includes best practice guides for schools, parents and teachers in order to integrate the school curriculum into the home environment. However, we offer additional options with respect to the implementation of the Connect campaign within the schools and can manage a more interventional interaction with each outreach school. We offer varied support levels from organising the first meeting with the schools to managing the full roll out of the initiative.

We can also develop, in a cost effective manner, a video and additional community events and competitions that will become beacons for the campaign and deepen the communication of public policy changes and the Sponsor’s business and brand.

Cost of SKIPS Connect Campaigns

Each programme is tailor made for the sponsor. We agree the cost of each Connect campaign on a “price per book” basis and the book price will reflect the programme level that you choose to adopt. Bespoke book programmes will attract a book adaption fee to cover our business cost. The development of a new Life Skills book will attract a book development fee. SKIPS Expertise in Community-wide Programmes

SKIPS is experienced in working with local authorities and delivering community-wide programmes. We have won awards for our effective educational campaigns. These are some examples of our regional educational campaign:

In Birmingham SKIPS delivered 10,000 SKIPS Dennis to the Rescue books (this is the SKIPS recycling book) so that every ten year old received a free recycling book. SKIPS coordinated with the Birmingham Sustainable Schools Programme in order to ensure that each school in the district received a free lesson plan that successfully integrates the SKIPS Recycling books into school life.

Under a SKIPS Educational Programme commissioned by philanthropists for Wolverhampton we supplied 24,000 free English and Maths books to nearly 12,000 children in 32 schools in order to narrow the educational gap for state sector pupils. We are engaging with the project coordinators in each school, are attending community events and introduce parents to the SKIPS books and associated methodology. At the same time we are conducting cognitive research on changes in the emotional attitude of parents and children towards homework and average academic progress; this research has been designed in accordance with the theory of change and complies with high quality statistical requirements.

Social Impact Reporting

As part of our commitment to our stakeholders, our communities and sponsors, SKIPS is dedicated to measure and report the social impact of its operations and campaigns.

The collection of appropriate data at school/community level will be formulated, together with you, in accordance with the theory of change and latest educational research projects. In our experience, local authorities prefer to collect, analyse the data and report on the social impact of the campaign. We can of course assist in this process and manage it for all parties involved.

The rationale for the SKIPS Parental Engagement Books

Educational research provides ample evidence that parental engagement is a crucial link in improving pupil attainment and changing family behaviour. SKIPS books are unique in their approach as they introduce curriculum based fun activities that trigger family communication and joint parent/pupil learning. At SKIPS we improve the educational outcome for primary school children on a larger scale through school-based Educational Programmes. We change the learning environment of families and their communities and our programmes are very much campaigns for social change. Our mission is to run small and large regional programmes for outreach communities that private and public sponsors would like to connect with, engage with and wish to support by funding such programmes (Engage and Connect Programmes).
