SKIPS CrossWord Puzzles
The SKIPS CrossWord Puzzles book actively encourages parent-child interaction, which builds your child’s self-esteem and confidence and allows you to learn together and highlight where your child may need more support.
SKIPS CrossMaths Puzzles
SKIPS CrossMaths puzzles are a truly enjoyable way to learn about Maths and helps pupils to develop methods that actually mean something to them, forming a lifelong relationship with numbers. By cracking the colour codes they will have great fun trying to solve the SKIPS Challenges at the end of each CrossMaths puzzle.
TAKE YOUR TIME:
Try not to attempt to finish the book on day one. Rather, make a commitment to spend half an hour at a time – little and often works best, e.g. before diner, on a car journey, with their friends, grandparents etc. You will find they want to do it
ENCOURAGE AND EXPLORE:
Encourage discussion and exploring. This will help to bring the subjects alive for the children. It’s a great way for kids to develop independent, lifelong learning skills.
GUIDANCE IS THE ANSWER:
When your child asks for help, provide guidance, not answers. Giving answers means your child will not learn the material. Too much help teaches your child that when the going gets tough, someone else will do the work for them. This way weak areas are easily identified and you can talk with your child’s teacher.
DON’T KNOW… LEARN:
Encourage the student not to be afraid and admit to what they don’t understand. They will gain confidence as they complete more of the puzzles, especially when they start to see the answers link together.
Be positive – give lots of encouragement and praise, but be realistic too.
